KILLINGS; HON DABIRI-EREWA DECRIES KILLING OF NIGERIANS IN SOUTH AFRICA

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Abike Dabiri-Erewa has condemned the incessant extra judicial killings of Nigerians living in South Africa.

She made this known in a statement released by her Special Assistant on Media, Abdurrahman Balogun.

Unacceptable killings

The presidential aide said in spite of diplomatic talks between Nigeria and South Africa to put an early warning signal in place, "it doesn't seem to be working."

The Nigeria Union in South Africa had confirmed the killing of another member, Kingsley Ikeri, at Vryheid town in Kwazulu Natal Province of South Africa on August 30.

Dabiri-Erewa said that the latest killing of Ikeri by the Police in South Africa is unacceptable to the people and government of Nigeria.

She reiterated President Muhammadu Buhari's calls to Nigerians to avoid crimes like drug peddling which attracts stiff penalties.

Extrajudicial killings

The former House of Representative member noted that the latest killing has increased the number of Nigerians killed in South Africa through extrajudicial means in the last one year.

She said, "The barbaric behaviour of the perpetrators is not only unacceptable, but also calls for urgent attention by diplomatic authorities in Nigeria and South Africa."

Dabiri-Erewa urged the South African government to ensure that justice prevails by carrying out investigation and bring the culprit to book.

The presidential aide reiterated her calls to Nigerians living abroad to always respect the laws of their host countries and be good ambassadors of Nigeria.

Recall that the Nigerian man, an auto mechanic, was on Thursday killed in South Africa after he was attacked alongside other Nigerians in Polokwane, Limpopo Province in South Africa. 2 ARMED ROBBERS SHOT DEAD DURING GUN BATTLE WITH POLICE

Two armed robbers were reportedly shot dead in a gun battle with the Kano State Police command and gang of robbers who shot a Police Patrol vehicle along Kano/Zaria road at a point close to Garun Mallam Village arrested. This was revealed in a statement signed by the command 's spokesperson , DSP . Magaji Musa Majia . According to him , the superior response officers attached to the Patrol van gunned down the robbers and sent the rest running. He further stated that one locally made AK 47 rifle , 1 revolver pistol, 12 live ammunition , charms and torchlight were recovered. New sentence, for breaching a supervision order by raping a woman days after he killed Masa Vukotic, takes jail term to 41 years Schoolgirl killer Sean Price has been handed an extra three years' jail for breaching a supervision order by raping a woman days after the homicide.
