MILITARY/IPOB CLASH,ABIA POLICE SAYS NO CAUSE FOR ALARM

ABA- the Police in Abia State has said that there is no cause for alarm over yesterday's clash between soldiers and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Umuahia.

Soldiers attached to the Forward Operation Base, FOB, Umuahia, had clashed with the IPOB, on Sunday, at Afara Ukwu community, Umuahia.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abia State Police Command, DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Police stated that the situation was instantly brought under control without loss of life.

Ogbonna disclosed that a Policeman sustained a machete cut on his head and back, while one of the soldiers was injured in his left wrist including one Mrs. Grace Nwokeukwu of Umuobasi lsiama Afara, Umuahia who also had a machete cut on her head.

He added that the victims were taken to Police Clinic, Umuahia for treatment and urged residents of the city to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation.

EFCC UNCOVERS N13 BILLION CASH IN LOCAL AND FOREIGN CURRENCIES IN LAGOS APARTMENT

The whistle blowing policy of the Federal Government appears to be paying off as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Wednesday announced that it uncovered foreign currencies and Naira notes to the tune of $43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million at a four-bedroom apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos. The total amount of money recovered at the current Central Bank exchange rate is over N13 billion. The operation followed a confidential information received by the Commission's Lagos office regarding some suspicious movement of bags in and out of a particular apartment in the building. Another source who is conversant with the apartment indicated that a woman usually appeared on different occasions with 'Ghana Must Go' bags, the EFCC said. POLICE PARADED RITUAL KILLERS WHO BUY HUMAN SKULLS,EYES AND TEETH FOR N12,000

A suspected ritual killer, Adebayo Mudashiru, has confessed that he and his colleagues buy human parts, including skulls, eyes and teeth, for N12,000. The suspect was arrested alongside three others in the Abeokuta and Owode Egba areas of the state by men of the Ogun State Police Command. The state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, paraded the suspects at the headquarters of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Magbon, Abeokuta over the weekend. Iliyasu said the four suspects specialized in killing for ritual purposes and belonged to two different ritual groups. One crewmember died and two others were injured after a U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter crashed at a golf course in Leonardtown, Maryland, during a "routine training flight" shortly before 2 p.m. EST today, officials told ABC News.
