UITENHAGE SAPS LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR ROBBERY SUSPECTS

Police in Uitenhage have launched a manhunt for suspects who allegedly robbed a 54-year-old man in Uitenhage on Monday morning at about 11:15.

It is alleged that the man was about to enter a financial institution in Caledon Street to deposit cash when he was approached by an unidentified male suspect who threatened him with a firearm.
The suspect took the man’s bag and ran across the road towards a white VW Caddy that was stationary in the parking area.

A relative of the man saw the incident occur and gave chase, driving into the VW Caddy with his bakkie.The suspect got out of the VW Caddy and jumped into a second red VW Polo and sped off.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken. No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident.
 

Police are following up on all possible leads.Preliminary investigations revealed that the white VW Caddy was hijacked in KwaNobuhle on Tuesday.Police are warning business owners to make use of alternative means to deposit cash.

A young teenage couple accused of snatching their newborn baby from hospital have been briefly reunited with their daughter after five days apart. Jayden Lavender, 14, and fiancée Jenifer Morrison, 15, smuggled three-day-old Aria out of the hospital in Sydney at 12.30am on Thursday. Their disappearance sparked a huge search before the pair were found safe and well 16 hours later after spending a night camping with the infant. The Borno State Police Command said on Wednesday that as a result of "Operation Safe Corridor," the counter-terrorism effort of the Nigerian military, two high profile commanders of the Boko Haram militant group have surrendered, along with their families. In a statement to newsmen in Maiduguri by its public relations officer, DSP Victor Isuku, the command said that 13 civilians were also rescued from suspected kidnappers, with two of the hoodlums dying of injuries received in a gun battle with the police. Unknown Gunmen Kill University Student, Watchman In Jigawa. 17th Feb 2017, A 27-year-old university student, Muhammad Garzali, was killed by unidentified assailants at Kafinhausa town of Kafinhausa Local Government Area of Jigawa.
