GUNMEN KIDNAP MUSICIAN,SHOOT WIFE

Gunmen have abducted a popular musician, Mr. Joseph Osayomore, in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

Osayomore was said to have been whisked away by the abductors at Orovie village, off Upper Ekehuan road, at about 10pm on Tuesday.

It was learnt that his wife  sustained gunshot wounds during the kidnap.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Moses Nkombe, who confirmed the incident noted that security agency received a report of the abduction at about 11pm.

The kidnap of the ace musician, who is renowned for the infusion of the Benin language in his  music, came less than two weeks after the abduction of the head of Ogba Zoo and Nature Park, Mr. Andrew Ehanire, and a Catholic priest, Fr. Lawrence Adorolo.

Adorolo was released last Saturday while Ehanire, who is the brother to the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, is yet to regain his freedom.

Nkombe, however, said that security operatives had been deployed to various spots across the state.
He also said that the police would do its best secure the release of the musician.

Benue State Police Command has busted two kidnap syndicate of 8 including a Gang of 4 allegedly led by a woman believed to be an associate of the wanted militant leader, Terwase Agwaza, aka Gana, who a week ago abducted a businessman. The police operation also led to the arrest of three women whose responsibilities were to provide food for the victims, who was rescued alive. The businessman was kidnapped alongside his son, who was later released to source N20 million as ransom for his father.  The state's Police Commissioner, Bashir Makama, said: "During investigations, we discovered that the lady, who was arrested had the responsibility of pencilling down those to be kidnapped and those to be killed by the gang. They are all associates of Gana, the wanted militant leader. Also arrested, after reliable information, is one Victor Ayanngor, who conspired with Ordue Abraham, Kelvin Dankor and Emmanuel Terver to kidnap his girlfriend and collect N200,000 ransom."
