- The protesters say they are tired of Saraki's political influence on the state


A protest is currently going on in Kwara state as some residents said they have become tired of their alleged political imprisonment by Senate president, Bukola Saraki.
Online medium, Sahara Reporters, which revealed the video of the protesting residents, said aggrieved are mostly made up of women and youth.
Saraki was a governor of the state for eight years before moving to the Senate where he is the current president and chairman of the National Assembly.
Armed with placards carrying various inscriptions, the angry residents marched across the streets.
He is believed to have made Abdulfatah Ahmed the current governor of the state and had continued to wield strong influence.

The suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), David Babachir Lawal, on Tuesday appeared before the Yemi Osinbajo-led panel, where he answered questions over the alleged violations of due process in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE). Lawal arrived the Presidential Villa around 1pm and was ushered before the Vice President. He left at 3.35pm. The panel had on Monday grilled the suspended Director-General of the National Inteligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke. Oke was suspended over the recovery of $43million from a Lagos apartment, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The panel went through documents and quizzed some officials during the 11-hour sesssion that began at 10am. Jerusalem – The U.S. Army has inaugurated its first military base in Israel,which sends a message of readiness to Iran in the region, local media reported on Tuesday. The base's opening comes as Israel faces a slew of regional threats, especially from its Iran, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said. The Israeli military said the new base is located inside an existing Israel Air Force base in the southern region. The American military base houses dozens of U.S. soldiers operating radar device alongside Israeli soldiers as U.S. radar has been operational on site for a decade, using American civilians to operate it.
