NURSE ARRAIGNED FOR STEALING PHONE

A nurse, Tinanja Inyang, 46, has been brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a telephone valued at N17,000.

Inyang, residing at No. 13, Atanda Popoola Str., Alakuko in Agege, near Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, told court that the accused committed the offence on Sept. 12 at No 14, Atanda Popoola Str. in Alakuko.

Egunjobi explained that the accused came to the shop of one Shogbeige Olajide, pretending to buy something and subsequently, stole the phone.

He said that during police investigation, it was discovered that only the accused entered the complainant’s shop at the time the phone was missing.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. I. Raji, however, granted the accused bail in the sum of N15, 000 with one surety in like sum.She said that the surety must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of two-year tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned till October 16 for a mention.

Benue State Police Command has busted two kidnap syndicate of 8 including a Gang of 4 allegedly led by a woman believed to be an associate of the wanted militant leader, Terwase Agwaza, aka Gana, who a week ago abducted a businessman. The police operation also led to the arrest of three women whose responsibilities were to provide food for the victims, who was rescued alive. The businessman was kidnapped alongside his son, who was later released to source N20 million as ransom for his father.  The state's Police Commissioner, Bashir Makama, said: "During investigations, we discovered that the lady, who was arrested had the responsibility of pencilling down those to be kidnapped and those to be killed by the gang. They are all associates of Gana, the wanted militant leader. When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home,(probably only two rooms back then).
