NURSE ARRAIGNED FOR STEALING PHONE

A nurse, Tinanja Inyang, 46, has been brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing a telephone valued at N17,000.

Inyang, residing at No. 13, Atanda Popoola Str., Alakuko in Agege, near Lagos, however, pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Yomi Egunjobi, told court that the accused committed the offence on Sept. 12 at No 14, Atanda Popoola Str. in Alakuko.

Egunjobi explained that the accused came to the shop of one Shogbeige Olajide, pretending to buy something and subsequently, stole the phone.

He said that during police investigation, it was discovered that only the accused entered the complainant’s shop at the time the phone was missing.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. I. Raji, however, granted the accused bail in the sum of N15, 000 with one surety in like sum.She said that the surety must be gainfully employed and should show evidence of two-year tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned till October 16 for a mention.

Unknown Gunmen Kill University Student, Watchman In Jigawa. 17th Feb 2017, A 27-year-old university student, Muhammad Garzali, was killed by unidentified assailants at Kafinhausa town of Kafinhausa Local Government Area of Jigawa. The Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, May 9, remanded a politician identified as Charles Eni-Umukoro over the murder of his wife, Louisa Eni-Umukoro, who was a director in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Justice Mary-Anne Aninih ordered the remand of Eni-Umukoro in Kuje Prison, FCT pending the hearing of his bail application. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) in February charged Umukoro with culpable homicide, which is punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code. The defendant however denied the allegation. Amilcar Henriquez shot dead in his Panama home . Police in Panama say national team soccer player Amilcar Henriquez has been shot dead while leaving his home. The press chief for Panama’s National Police says the killing happened Saturday in the country’s Colon province. Authorities say a gunman shot the 33-year-old midfielder several times. Another two people were wounded. The player died at a nearby hospital. President Juan Carlos Varela has condemned the killing on his Twitter account. He is calling for authorities in Colon to find those responsible. Henriquez was part of the Panama team that is trying to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
