BREAKING: Makarfi faction orders Sheriff out of PDP secretariat

Senator Ahmed Makarfi, head of the sacked National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded that the factional national chairman of the party Senator Ali Modu Sheriff vacate the party’s national secretariat in Abuja immediately to avoid chaos.

The Punch reports that Makarfi said Sheriff, despite being declared the authentic national chairman of the PDP by the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on February 17, must wait until the Supreme Court makes its own pronouncement on the case.

Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the spokesperson for the faction, stated this at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, February 27 while accusing the police of favouring the former governor of Borno State in the crisis.
Adeyeye said that the Makarfi-faction want Sheriff out of the secretariat in order to avoid breakdown of law and order.
Factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has asked the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers state to jail factional leader Senator Ahmed Makarfi, and some of his loyalists.

The Punch reports that apart from Makarfi, Sheriff wants the trio of sacked factional national caretaker committee secretary Senator Ben Obi and publicity secretary Dayo Adeyeye as well as former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode jailed.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) on Tuesday paraded a 17-year-old Boko Haram suspect, who admitted killing 18 people since he joined the group three years ago.  The suspect, Ali Mustafa, said he was forced to join the deadly group when Boko Haram terrorists attacked his village in Monguno and left with many boys. The teenager said he gained skill handling assault rifles, with which he executed his victims.  "I was forced to join Boko Haram about three years ago. The suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), David Babachir Lawal, on Tuesday appeared before the Yemi Osinbajo-led panel, where he answered questions over the alleged violations of due process in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE). Lawal arrived the Presidential Villa around 1pm and was ushered before the Vice President. He left at 3.35pm. The panel had on Monday grilled the suspended Director-General of the National Inteligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke. Oke was suspended over the recovery of $43million from a Lagos apartment, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Daily Trust reports that the ex-president took the train of celebration to some public-school students at his Ibogun village, near Ifo, Ogun state. He was spotted in a reading session with them. This is part of activities to mark his 80th birthday celebrations. Deadly bomb blast hits church in Egypt At least 21 people have been killed and dozens wounded in a bomb attack on a church north of Cairo. Islamist extremists have targeted Christian members of the Coptic Church in the past. The explosion went off inside a Coptic Christian church in the city of Tanta north of Cairo as worshippers were celebrating Palm Sunday. Egyptian state media reported 21 people had been killed and a further 38 wounded.   Footage from CBC TV from inside the Mar Girgis (St George's) Coptic Church showed dead bodies covered with papers. Coptic Christians make up about 10 percent of Egypt's population and are regularly the target of Islamist extremists. Palm Sunday is one of the holiest days of the Christian calendar, marking the triumphant entrance of Jesus to the city of Jerusalem.
