ABDUCTORS OF TURKISH EXPATRIATES DEMAND N200MILLION AS RANSOM

Abductors of two Turkish expatriates in Akwa Ibom have demanded N200 million to release them.The victims were abducted on April 10 from their Airstrip hotel room in Eket Local Government Area of the state.

 A security source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Eket that the abductors had been in touch with the BKS Construction Company in Onna Local Government Area where the expatriates work.

 He said that the abductors contacted the construction company and demanded N200 million as ransom to release them.

 “The abductors have demanded the sum of N200 million before the victims could be released to the company.“The company is negotiating with the abductors to secure the release of the victims,” the source said.

 According to the source, the firm is offering N500,000.

 The State Police Public Relations (PPRO), ASP Chilly Ikechukwu, said the police were not aware of the ransom.

FORMER BBC STUDIO CORDONED OFF AFTER MAN'S BODY WAS DISCOVERED

A man’s body has been discovered on the former BBC studios site in Manchester city centre. The body was found this morning at the building site on Oxford Road, which is currently being transformed into student flats. Greater Manchester Police have been called to the scene and the area has been taped off. Forensics officers have also been seen combing the area. Police are working to establish the circumstances behind the man’s death. The victim is believed to have been discovered by building site staff on Monday morning. It is thought he gained access to the building site over the weekend. A prophet of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C & S) Church in Lagos, Mr. Alimi Isaiah, 55, has been arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly being in possession of human skull and a horn. Barely one week after a policeman lost his service rifle to unknown gunmen, another policeman has been attacked and killed by unidentified hoodlums in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The unnamed policeman was reportedly killed in a beer parlour in the state capital. It was learnt that the hoodlums stole a police AK47 rifle after murdering the policeman at one of the relaxation spots on Hospital Road area.
