Four unidentified gunmen have killed the newly sworn-in Ukanafun Local Government Council Secretary in Akwa Ibom, Mr Ime Atakpa.

 Atakpa was shot when he was in his farm in his backyard at Ukanafun on Sunday.

 His wife, Imo, who confirmed this to newsmen, said they went to Ukanafun for Easter service.She said prior to the church’s service they decided to check on some pigs in the farm.While she and the children were in the house, she heard gunshots.When she tried to find where the sound of the gunfire emanated, she saw four masked men walking away from the compound.

 The Akwa Ibom Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu, also confirmed the incident.Okechukwu said four gunmen shot the late council secretary in the stomach.He added that he died on the way to hospital.

 “The man was in his farm in Ukanafun LGA when four unidentified gunmen shot him,” he said.

FORMER BBC STUDIO CORDONED OFF AFTER MAN'S BODY WAS DISCOVERED

A man’s body has been discovered on the former BBC studios site in Manchester city centre. The body was found this morning at the building site on Oxford Road, which is currently being transformed into student flats. Greater Manchester Police have been called to the scene and the area has been taped off. Forensics officers have also been seen combing the area. Police are working to establish the circumstances behind the man’s death. The victim is believed to have been discovered by building site staff on Monday morning. It is thought he gained access to the building site over the weekend. A statement from GMP said: “Shortly before 7:50am on Monday, May 8, 2017, police were called to reports that a body had been found on Oxford Road in Manchester city centre. “Enquiries are on-going to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.” It is understood building staff working on the site have been told to stop working until further notice. A prophet of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C & S) Church in Lagos, Mr. Alimi Isaiah, 55, has been arraigned before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly being in possession of human skull and a horn. LEEDS, Ala. A 12-year-old girl died Sunday after authorities believe she was accidentally shot by a family member during a gathering in Alabama, according to multiple reports. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified the girl as Kayla Mendenhall, AL.com reported. Authorities told the news site that Kayla and an adult family member were wrestling when a gun worn by the adult discharged. Kayla was shot in the upper leg and died at a hospital. POLICEMAN MURDERED,RIFFLE STOLEN BY HOODLUMS

Barely one week after a policeman lost his service rifle to unknown gunmen, another policeman has been attacked and killed by unidentified hoodlums in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The unnamed policeman was reportedly killed in a beer parlour in the state capital. It was learnt that the hoodlums stole a police AK47 rifle after murdering the policeman at one of the relaxation spots on Hospital Road area. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, reportedly created pandemonium in the area known for prostitution and forced many restaurants to temporarily shut down their business. Christian Nwosu An ex - Administrative Secretary with the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mr. Christian Nwosu , on Thursday alleged that he was cajoled into confessing to taking a bribe of N 30m to compromise the 2015 general elections.
