Five children killed in Abuja electricity fire 


Five children have been reportedly burnt to death after fire gutted their apartment on Saturday in in Mpape community, in the Bwari area of Abuja. 
It was gathered that there were sparks on the electric cables in the area after power was restored by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC). The sparks were said to have triggered a fire, which ravaged the victims’ parents apartment. 
The children were said to have been trapped in the house and burnt to death. Residents said they could not save them because there was no water in the community. 
The district head of the community, Alhaji Abubakar Gimba, told Ezeja.com, an online news site, that before the children could be brought out, they were already dead. “We rushed to see how we could put out the fire, but before we could do that, the five children were already dead,” he said. 
The spokesperson for the AEDC, Ahmed Shekarau, said some officials of the company had gone on a fact-finding mission to ascertain the true cause of the fire.

Benue State Police Command has busted two kidnap syndicate of 8 including a Gang of 4 allegedly led by a woman believed to be an associate of the wanted militant leader, Terwase Agwaza, aka Gana, who a week ago abducted a businessman. The police operation also led to the arrest of three women whose responsibilities were to provide food for the victims, who was rescued alive. The businessman was kidnapped alongside his son, who was later released to source N20 million as ransom for his father.  The state's Police Commissioner, Bashir Makama, said: "During investigations, we discovered that the lady, who was arrested had the responsibility of pencilling down those to be kidnapped and those to be killed by the gang. They are all associates of Gana, the wanted militant leader. 3 SUSPECTED THIEVES ARRESTED AT THE LAGOS HIGH COURT

File Photo The Police at the Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, Lagos have arrested three suspected thieves who allegedly jumped into the High Court premises at Igbosere Road on Lagos Island at midnight with dangerous weapons to steal. The suspects, according to a Police source could not succeed in their plans before the Police stormed the scene to arrest them and took them to the station following a distress call to the Police by the securitymen attached to the Court.
