POLICE VOW TO FISH OUT CULPRITS BEHIND THE ATTACK OF KING'S PALACE

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 11, Agboola Oshodi-Glover, has vowed that the five gunmen who shot sporadically at the palace of the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji would be brought to justice.

The incident occurred on Monday during the installation of Baales (village heads).

The Police boss, who is in charge of Oyo, Osun and Ondo states, added that security will be beefed up around the palace.

Oshodi-Glover said this on Tuesday while playing a courtesy visit on the Olubadan in the company of the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude and other top police officers in the state.

He regretted that the police had no hint of the attack as that would have enabled it stop it from happening.

"Definitely, security will be beefed up around the palace and more importantly, those miscreants who did that will be fished out and will be taken to court for proper justice to take its cause.

"I don't know any news behind the news on this matter. But we are going to investigate what happened. If we knew the news behind the news, the gunmen would not even get close to the palace. Now that we have known, we would do everything possible and no stone would be left unturned," he said.

While assuring the people of the state that the police are high on alert to ensure the safety of lives and property, the police boss appealed to the people who have information on the identity of the unidentified gunmen to make same available to the police so as to fast track getting to the root of the matter.

"The policemen are on high alert and citizens should be rest assured that they are safe. We are also calling on the citizens, who saw what happened and who have information to let the police have them towards helping us in getting into the root of all these.

"The steps the police are taking will make all and sundry to be happy. The Yoruba tradition must be respected and respect must be accorded to the people and institutions that deserve it. The hoodlums are hereby warned to desist from unruly behaviour. Those that perpetrated the invasion, we are going to make sure that we get them," Oshodi-Glover assured.

While addressing the visitor, the monarch expressed his happiness at the visit and the decision of the police boss to do an on the spot assessment of the situation.

POLICE ARREST 4 INTERNET FRAUDSTERS,EFCC TAKES CHARGE

  Four suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested in Benin City, Edo State, by the Nigeria police and have been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes commission,EFCC. The EFCC in a statement issued on Tuesday gave the names of the suspects as Shiko Romeo, Bobby Edigiu, Henry Nisike and Emmanuel Ayo. The suspects, according to the EFCC, have reportedly confessed to their involvement in internet fraud using fake identification on Facebook. Their victims were mostly European and American women, the statement said. The EFCC said one of the suspects, Mr. Romeo, who claimed to be a student of the National Open University, NOUN, has revealed how he scammed the duo of K. Zamaripas and Susan of various sums of money by feigning to be in a romantic relationship using the name John Culfer in New Jersey, United States. The suspects would be charged to court at the end of the investigation, the EFCC said.

Man fights armed robber for stealing girlfriend's phone, collects gun A suspected armed robber, Michael David, has been arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State, after he robbed a lady, identified simply as Kate, of her phone. PUNCH Metro gathered that 22-year-old David and two other members of his gang, while armed with a locally-made double-barrelled pistol, attacked Kate and her boyfriend, one Desmond, on Close 26, Satellite Town, Ijegun, around 10pm. It has been reported that a Cameroon international kicked the bucket after an alleged romantic encounter with a woman who hails from the Niger Delta region. The 37-year-old Cameroonian man died in yet-to-be-ascertained circumstances in the home of his alleged lover in Ogboinbiri community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The death of the Cameroonian man, identified simply as Dr. Charles, a patent medicine dealer, on Tuesday, has, however, stirred controversies. Youths and traders protest customs invasion of rice warehouse Feb 23rd 2017; Some youths and traders have brought activities and vehicular movement on the ever busy Lagos-Abeokuta expressway to a halt, following a protest over alleged invasion of the rice market by men of the Nigerian Customs Service.The protest which was said to have lasted for hours, took the intervention of the Sango Ota Police Area Commander, Adegoke Fayoade, to restore normalcy to the area. Two people were killed and eight others were wounded May 7, 2017, in an attack near the site of a memorial where a man was slain earlier in the day in the Brighton Park neighborhood, police said. It happened in the 2600 block of West 46th Place, police said.
