MALE BEAUTY CONTEST CANCELLED BECAUSE ENTRANTS WERE TOO UGLY

The "Mr. Model Tabasco 2017" male beauty contest was supposed to bring together the most handsome men in the Mexican state of Tabasco, but the modeling agency behind the event recently announced its cancellation, after failing to find candidates that met their beauty requirements.

In order to be accepted as contestants for the Mr. Model Tabasco pageant, candidates needed to have a height of at least 1,78 m, be between 17 and 27 years old, have a "harmonious face and body", have a college degree or an education equivalent to their age, speak English, have a valid passport, and not be a stripper.

Apparently, these requirements proved to be a big problem, as just a few days before the contest, organizers had only selected 6 candidates. Those didn't really meet the agency's beauty standards either, so they ultimately decided to cancel the whole event.

ONIGBESE GOVERNOR OF KOGI MOVES TO END STRIKE IN STATE UNIVERSITY

Governor  Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has appealed to members of the state university's academic staff union to call off their strike.(Which would be a big mistake if they comply) Bello, who visited the University at Ayingba on Tuesday, pledged to pay all the salary arrears of lecturers and non-academic staff of the institution this month. He said the payment would cover those on contract and study leave, as well as those employed in 2015. In an alleged ecstasy to impress their paymaster, a team of police operatives, on Sunday, shot dead one Elvis Ovie and injured another, Onome Eko, during a party in Warri, Delta State. Operatives, three of whom are now in police detention, were said to have been in a shooting spree to impress an alleged internet fraudster popularly called 'yahoo yahoo boys' for whom they were providing security. It was gathered that the gun-wielding cops were led by one Insp. Imana Samuel, a Sergeant and a corporal from the Warri Area Command. The hotel had reported them and police busted them in their room today, with their laptops.  The hotel said they claim to be musicians but the police is claiming that they are "Yahoo boys," after busting them with four laptops. Nigerian security forces say they have foiled a plot by ISIS-linked Boko Haram militants to bomb the British High Commission and US Embassy in the capital Abuja. The Department of State Services announced that it had arrested five suspects who were planning attacks. A DSS official said a suspected Boko Haram member who was arrested on March 22, in north-eastern Yobe state, confessed details of the plot. That led to the arrests of the five plotters, who were based in Benue State, in the country's middle belt, and the Federal Capital Territory, on March 25 and 26. 30 NEW ILLEGAL REFINERIES FOUND IN RIVERS STATE

Victor Choji, the Executive Officer of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder, Port Harcourt, said this during the destruction of one of the illegal refineries on Thursday. He said all the refineries were discovered in Asari Toru Local Government area of Rivers, with 40 huge metallic storage tanks . The News Agency of Nigeria reports that some of the storage tanks were filled with petroleum products suspected to be diesel and crude oil. Choji noted that the discovery was in continuation of the current mop-up of illegal refineries and illicit bunkering of petroleum products by crude oil thieves.
