THE UK GOVT GIVES NIGERIA ADVICE ON TERROR GROUP BOKO HARAM

The government of the United Kingdom has said it stands with Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents.

UK's Minister for the Armed Forces, Mark Lancaster, gave the assurance after touring different parts of the country, including Makurdi, Maiduguri, Kaduna and Abuja to get a first hand assessment of the support UK troops were providing for Nigerian soldiers.

Lancaster said: "The UK stands united with Nigeria in the international fight against terror. With our world class military expertise, we are helping the Nigerian military develop the skills necessary to tackle the threat of Boko Haram.

"From expert operational guidance and medical mentoring in the North East, to counter explosive device training across the country, the UK is leading the way in its commitment to supporting a safe and stable Nigeria.

"During the visit, he saw first hand the support the UK is providing to the Nigerian Armed Forces leading the fight against Boko Haram.

"As well as meeting those delivering expert training to the Nigerian Armed Forces through the resident British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT), the Minister met with UK personnel in the Liaison and Support Team (LST) based in the North East of the country.

"The LST provides non-lethal operational advice and guidance to the Nigerian Armed Forces as they tackle the terror threat of Boko Haram."

Jerusalem – The U.S. Army has inaugurated its first military base in Israel,which sends a message of readiness to Iran in the region, local media reported on Tuesday. The base's opening comes as Israel faces a slew of regional threats, especially from its Iran, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said. The Israeli military said the new base is located inside an existing Israel Air Force base in the southern region. The American military base houses dozens of U.S. soldiers operating radar device alongside Israeli soldiers as U.S. radar has been operational on site for a decade, using American civilians to operate it.

COURT ORDERS FORFEITURE OF MONIES IN BANK ACCOUNTS NOT LINKED TO BVN

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the forfeiture of all monies in bank accounts owned by corporate organisations, government agencies or individuals that are without bank verification number (BVN). The forfeiture order, which was issued by Justice Dimgba Igwe, while ruling on an exparte application filed by the Federal Government through the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, is not final yet. The owners of the accounts will have 14 days to claim ownership of same and show cause why the proceeds in the accounts should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government. Ms Hansen's family said they were shocked and devastated by her death. A 20-year-old man has been charged following a fatal hit and run that killed a Melbourne nurse, Victorian police have confirmed.
