THE UK GOVT GIVES NIGERIA ADVICE ON TERROR GROUP BOKO HARAM

The government of the United Kingdom has said it stands with Nigeria in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents.

UK's Minister for the Armed Forces, Mark Lancaster, gave the assurance after touring different parts of the country, including Makurdi, Maiduguri, Kaduna and Abuja to get a first hand assessment of the support UK troops were providing for Nigerian soldiers.

Lancaster said: "The UK stands united with Nigeria in the international fight against terror. With our world class military expertise, we are helping the Nigerian military develop the skills necessary to tackle the threat of Boko Haram.

"From expert operational guidance and medical mentoring in the North East, to counter explosive device training across the country, the UK is leading the way in its commitment to supporting a safe and stable Nigeria.

"During the visit, he saw first hand the support the UK is providing to the Nigerian Armed Forces leading the fight against Boko Haram.

"As well as meeting those delivering expert training to the Nigerian Armed Forces through the resident British Military Advisory and Training Team (BMATT), the Minister met with UK personnel in the Liaison and Support Team (LST) based in the North East of the country.

"The LST provides non-lethal operational advice and guidance to the Nigerian Armed Forces as they tackle the terror threat of Boko Haram."

President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey Tuesday, the White House said, moving to oust the man leading an investigation into his campaign operatives’ ties to Russia. A suspected ritualist at Obadeyi area in Ijaiye A ritualist den was on Wednesday discovered in a tunnel at the challenge area of Mushin, Lagos, three weeks after a similar den was discovered in Ikeja. On 9 August, the police apprehended a suspected ritualist in a drainage channel at Ile-Zik, close to Ikeja, on the Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway. Concise News reported that a similar hideout was also uncovered at Obadeyi Ajala, in Ijaiye area. One of the suspected ritualists in the den discovered in Mushin is said to have been set ablaze, while two others were rescued by the Police from being lynched. Daily Sun reports that the tunnel where they were found leads to a moribund company. Syringes believed to be used in injecting their victims with sedative drugs were discovered in the hideout.

LOS ANGELES –  A missing 5-year-old boy's father has been released from jail in an unexpected twist that only deepens the mystery behind the boy's disappearance. Investigators on Tuesday decided against presenting the case to prosecutors and moving forward with charges against Aramazd Andressian Sr., who was found unconscious Saturday at a South Pasadena park. His son, Armazd Andressian Jr., was nowhere to be found and remains missing four days later. Andressian Sr. was arrested later Saturday on suspicion of child endangerment and abduction and was being held on $10 million bail before his release Tuesday. Authorities would say only that the investigation was continuing, and would not say whether the father remains a suspect. On Tuesday authorities searched Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara County, but now don't believe the boy was there.
