Youths and traders protest customs invasion of rice warehouse

Some youths and traders have brought activities and vehicular movement on the ever busy Lagos-Abeokuta expressway to a halt, following a protest over alleged invasion of the rice market by men of the Nigerian Customs Service.The protest which was said to have lasted for hours, took the intervention of the Sango Ota Police Area Commander, Adegoke Fayoade, to restore normalcy to the area.

Meanwhile, the Customs Public Relations Officer, Federal Operation Unit, Jerry Attah, dismissed the claims of market invasion, explaining that men of the command on surveillance noticed smugglers were moving rice in bulk on motorcycles from a canoe to a store in the area.

He added that the command only evacuated some of the alleged smuggled rice at the warehouse in the early hours of Wednesday.The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said normal activities have been restored to the area.

2 ARMED ROBBERS SHOT DEAD DURING GUN BATTLE WITH POLICE

Two armed robbers were reportedly shot dead in a gun battle with the Kano State Police command and gang of robbers who shot a Police Patrol vehicle along Kano/Zaria road at a point close to Garun Mallam Village arrested. This was revealed in a statement signed by the command 's spokesperson , DSP . Magaji Musa Majia . According to him , the superior response officers attached to the Patrol van gunned down the robbers and sent the rest running. Malaysia's High Court heard this week Kim Jong Nam had 12 doses of atropine in his sling bag when he was allegedly swabbed with VX nerve agent in Kuala Lumpur International Airport on February 13, news agency Bernama said. Defense lawyer Hisyam Abdullah also confirmed the report to CNN. Abdullah said K.
